KOLKATA: Anup Majhi, a key suspect in a suspected multi-crore coal theft rip-off in West Bengal, turned himself in to a CBI courtroom in Asansol on Tuesday morning, in accordance with an official. Majhi, often known as Lala, had been on the run for some time, the official added.
“He surrendered earlier than a particular courtroom in Asansol this morning,” the CBI official stated.
The alleged rip-off includes mines situated within the Kunustoria and Kajora areas in and round Asansol, West Bengal.
Beforehand, the Supreme Courtroom had granted Majhi non permanent safety from arrest, offered that he cooperated with the investigation.
The CBI, which initiated its probe in 2020, is predicted to submit the chargesheet within the case on Might 21, as per the official.
In reference to the alleged rip-off, 4 people, together with Gurupada Majhi, believed to be Lala’s affiliate, had been beforehand arrested.
Whereas the opposite three have been granted bail, Gurupada stays incarcerated in Tihar Jail.
